Exodus 14
Pharaoh decides to pursue the Israelites. All Pharaoh’s horses, chariots and horsemen gave pursuit. Israel crossed the Red Sea on dry land, Pharaoh’s forces were drowned. People have attempted “naturalistic” explanations to the parting of the Red Sea but none are satisfactory. A miracle was worked here and that fact ought not be denied.
Exodus 15
A song of victory sung to the Lord (15:1-18) and celebration by Miriam and the women. At the end of the chapter the people complain about the water situation. God provides a remedy and promises to keep them healthy if they heed Him.
Exodus 16
God provided them with manna. They should have always been grateful. Sometimes we complain for lack of variety. If so, then there’s a sense in which our attitude isn’t that far from the Israelites.
The food might not have been fancy, but it provided for their needs and God has promised to provide for ours. Also in chapter 16 don’t overlook that God gave specific instructions and those instructions were to be kept.
